Biriyani lacked the quality, quantity and taste it used to.... The taste of the gravy was not good.... And altogether a very bad experience than what it used to be when i used to order from here previously....
With much anticipation, we made our way through the by lanes of Pimple Nilakh to reach the much advertised Hyderabadi Food Court. This place is right opposite the Chonde Recreational playground in Pimple Nilakh.
Ambience: This place has an indoor AC and an outdoor seating. As the weather permitted, we decided to sit out. It’s a garden set up with dim lighting all around. Did not try the indoor seating.
What was tried? We enquired if the Dum Biryani is prepared in the true Hyderabadi style as many folks advertise it in the manner but do not stay true to its word. We were told it’s the same thing you would find in Hyderabad. Tall claims indeed. We also asked for their choice of starters and were told to go in for the Chicken 65 which would be fried chicken pieces. As the weather supported it, we settled in for Chicken Manchow soup while the starter and Biryani were being prepared.
Chicken Manchow soup: The soup tasted different. There was something wrong with one of the veggies for sure. Both of us felt it. Additional it lacked in salt big time.
Chicken 65: On reaching home, we were in for a second set back. The dish lacked in salt completely. The only saving grace was the quantity was good.
Chicken Biryani: The million dollar question on whether this passed the taste test....In two words "Complete Disaster". The aroma was the first dampener. I could not tell for sure but one spice had an overwhelming aroma over the others. The quantity was decent. The chicken pieces were soft and cooked well but the amount of spices was negligible. This is not how a Hyderabadi Biryani should be. Every single morsel made me disappointed.
Service: It took over 30 minutes to get our parcel for Biryani and Chicken 65. In my humble opinion, the Chicken Dum Biryani should not take so much time as its already prepared hours earlier.
Price: Rs 640 /- for these three dishes is not a cheap affair but the return on the expense in terms of taste was a complete dampener.
Final verdict: This could be a labour of love of the folks who run the place and gives me no joy to give my current feedback and rating but this place has potential to tap in to the food scene in the area but not with the 'current taste of affairs'. A serious look is required at the offerings. By no means of imagination, does this match with the Hyderabadi Biryani we know of.
