Hunan Restaurant on New BEL Road used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Bangalore before Covid. Unfortunately, after Covid it feels like the management and menu have changed, and with that, the quality has gone downhill year after year. What’s more disappointing is that while the prices have increased, the food quality has clearly reduced. We ordered soup, starters, and main course. The starters were just about okay, nothing great. But the Crabmeat Asparagus Soup, which used to be our all-time favorite and something we order every visit, was a huge letdown this time. There was no salt, no proper flavor, and no balance. The soup was overly thick and loaded with corn starch, completely ruining the texture and taste. It honestly didn’t feel like the same dish at all. The main course was even worse. The Chicken Shanghai Pan-Fried Noodles had no proper taste with strong smell making it unpleasant to eat. The Chicken Nasi Goreng was also disappointing, it was dominated by a strong chilli taste with no depth of flavor. We couldn’t finish it but didn’t want to waste food, so we packed it. Overall, the food lacked taste, balance, and quality, which is shocking for a restaurant that once had such a good reputation. Nowadays it feels like many restaurants focus only on cutting costs and increasing prices, while completely ignoring what actually matters, taste and quality. Sadly, Hunan has become one of them. Very disappointed. This place is no longer what it used to be before. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹2,000+
