Hopped into this quiet spot for some delicious food. The portion is enough for one person and is reasonably priced. The Ceylon chicken curry stew and Ceylon parotta are an excellent combination. Also, the Colombo 9 Chicken and Traditional Hopper pair well. You could also mix and match the two combinations listed above. Had this with a Pineapple Basil cooler and ended this wholesome meal on a sweet note with two potions of Vatalappam (milk pudding). In this peaceful setting, the service moved quickly. I will definitely be back.

I had taken Sri Lankan trip. This menu got me excited to try it again! The food from Hoppom wasn't anything like it!! The curry looked like desi Chinese red curry. It was soo oily! The appam, porotha was good though! Sombol was a nice addition.. but it didn't have that kick at all

We recently visited Hoppum, a true haven for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, and it was quite the culinary journey! We began with the Lankan Stewed Chilli Chicken, where tender chicken was stuffed into green chillies — a brilliant fusion of juicy meat, aromatic spices, and bold chilli heat. It set the tone for what we hoped would be an exciting meal. The Chicken and Cheese Kottu followed, a popular Sri Lankan street dish featuring finely chopped roti tossed with vegetables and chicken. It was delicious, evoking nostalgic Indian chaat vibes (think ragda pattice) with its hearty and comforting flavors. The Green Mango Chicken Curry was a standout — silky smooth, subtly tangy with green mango, and enriched with coconut. Paired with their traditional Hopper (similar to an appam), it was an absolute treat. We also tried the Hot Butter Squid, which was flavorful and perfectly chewy — a must for seafood enthusiasts. Portion sizes for starters felt on the smaller side, especially considering the price point. Another important thing to note was the food was pre-prepared, and simply heated and served. To beat the heat, the bottled Pineapple & Basil Cooler and Kokum Sherbet provided much-needed refreshment. Our meal wrapped up with the Lemony Chicken Delight Combo Rice, served beautifully in a banana leaf with rice, chicken leg, coconut chutneys, and garnishes. Unfortunately, while visually appealing, it lacked the bold flavors we anticipated and felt a bit bland. While the restaurant greets you with a pleasant, warm ambiance, the seating feels quite congested. The small tables and pocket-café vibe were a bit of a letdown, especially for a place that serves such vibrant cuisine.
