The food was ok but good in quantity. The location is perfect on the main road, close to Venna Lake. Ambience is ok and open seating arrangement. We ordered unlimited veg thali, pithale bhakri, bhaji and corn pattice, matki usal and chapati. The food taste was ok and can be improved. The service was ok. Hirkani Garden restaurant near Venna Lake is a must visit place in Mahabaleshwar. This place was started in 1961. My grandparents and my mother are regular here since 1970 and so am I since childhood. Food is excellent. Makkai sabji with bajri bhakri is extraordinary. Strawberry cream/icecream/shake are excellent. Makkai frankie and pattice, tak are good and so is Zunka bhakar. Simple, homely yet super tasty food. Run by a simple family, service is no-nonsense type amd satisfactory. They also serve organic strawberry grown in their own farm from January to June. There is one more place with the same name near Saj, do not visit there since the food is not half as good as this one. Do ask for jaggery on the side. Cleanliness can be somewhat improved so as to improve the overall vibe which would invite more customers.
