The wait outside Hamza Fry spoke volumes before I'd tasted a single bite. Despite the ten-minute wait on a packed evening, my friend's confident assurance that "the food will be worth it" kept us lingering on the sidewalk, appetites growing. The outdoor seating arrangement, while simple, provides the perfect backdrop for what turned out to be a neat experience. Their Bheja Fry delivers that distinctive richness that enthusiasts crave, prepared with a masterful balance of spices that doesn't overwhelm the delicate main ingredient. The Darbari and Dabba Ghosh – both house specialties according to my experienced companion – lived up to their reputation. Each dish carried distinct character while maintaining the restaurant's apparent commitment to robust, unapologetic flavors. Their Keema Biryani suffered slightly from excess oil, the only minor misstep in an otherwise impressive lineup. However, the tandoori offerings quickly redeemed any disappointment, arriving at our table succulent and perfectly charred. What impressed most was the kitchen's efficiency despite the one cook and a full house. Dishes arrived promptly, hot and carefully presented. No misdirection, no distraction, just people eating food.
