Gambas restaurant is a dining destination. We went in on a Sunday Night and ordered some specials from the limited menu. Complimentary chips was provided while we got seated. An excellent love-shaped chips fried in oil. They even refilled it on our request. A great flattering freebie. The CREAM OF TOMATO soup was the fitting smack of beginning to the meal. The CHICKEN LOLLYPOP was 7 pieces of crispy, juicy and delicious slices, cooked to just the right amount, and presented with the complementing spicy tomato sauce. The DRUMS OF HEAVEN were wet and sautéed slices of chicken presented as a heap on a platter. The BEEF FRY was offered as juliennes of deep fried crispy meat, but it was a tad beyond the acceptable levels of chewable hardness. The WHITE SAUCE CHICKEN PASTA kept the yardstick at the right levels. The FISH CHILLY was yet another excellent boneless sautéed chunks of plush seerfish. We were done with the starters and ordered the main course. The CHICKEN MANCHURIAN was appealing and the Mutton coconut fry was a bit difficult to chew, but tasty. The bread, such as Nan and Parathas were awesomely toasted. We concluded with the CARAMEL PUDDING. It was aesthetically staged with mint leaves and cherry on top, but the savour was just passable. The taste of eggs in the pudding was more than the flavour of caramel. But altogether, the meal was scrumptious and filling for all of us. I took a stroll around the Buffet counter and was surprised to see 4 non-veg dishes, 8 desserts, a chaat counter, a live egg & appam counter and more on display. The cost for Buffet is 799. I shall try it next time and put up my feedback of the thingy. I enquired more on the buffet system, and they said they do it only when they are expecting guests in bulk numbers. Otherwise it wouldn’t be feasible for them.
