I had a very unpleasant experience dealing with the owner of Flames restaurant on 17th January (evening). While I was traveling in Himachal Pradesh, the owner personally reached out to buy some of my preloved home décor items in Goa. In my absence, he went with my staff to my friend’s house and collected a chandelier, cushions/pillows, and a very expensive, beloved plant, without my physical presence. The entire interaction was rushed and uncomfortable. During price discussions, he repeatedly devalued the items, making dismissive comments such as “it doesn’t even look worth 2k” and later telling my friend “we are hardworking people, we don’t have money to buy fancy things”, which felt inappropriate and unnecessary in a business transaction. Following this, there were serious issues with accountability. The chandelier was returned damaged, and the plant was never returned. When I followed up, there was initial denial, followed by vague responses that the items were “kept somewhere,” with an expectation that I should go and locate them myself. Since then, communication has been consistently dismissive and disrespectful, despite the fact that this situation arose from trust extended in good faith. This experience lacked basic professionalism, transparency, and ethics—especially from the owner of a well-known family restaurant. I would urge others to be very cautious when engaging in private transactions with the owner.
