We went there because of all the hype and we were super excited to try out all the desserts recommended at this place. While the desserts in itself were decent (nothing to write home about, tbh), the sheer lack of hospitality was what completely threw us off. We're not sure if the person who took our order / billed us was the owner of the place, but she was very cold towards us and her attitude towards us felt like she was doing us a favour. I don't say this usually, especially about up and coming places, but extremely disappointed with the service.

We are sorry you had a bad experience , the serving staff is usually the chefs from the open kitchen and sometimes they seem to rush or serve quickly to head back into baking. We are never meant to be a cafe that would be rude to our customers. We will definitely keep in mind and and hope to make your experience better ! Thank youMore

Great staff and amazing dessert. The place is very small and hard to find parking, but it's worth visiting for the quality of the dessert

Until today, my favourite desserts in Madras were from Sweet Spot in Nungambakkam/Thousand Lights, and Freshly Baked Goodness, Alwarpet. Finalé, seems to have edged past both of them and taken the top dessert spot in Madras. For multiple reasons. Allow me to take you through all of them 1. Their choux pastries. Having tried choux pastries from Magnolia bakery in Bangalore, which are super fluffy, soft and so perfectly-textured, and subsequently having been disappointed by stale, rubbery choux pastries at both Les Amis, Alwarpet, and Mug Cakes, Nungambakkam, I have to say that Finalé has got a brilliant version of it. The crust was a little more over done than I personally liked, but the crunchy exterior and soft interior is very reminiscent (for me) of those coconut cookies we used to buy from McRennet and other bakeries when young. 9/10 for this. (We tried their macha and the blueberry choux; the creams, jams etc. were completely perfect!) 2. The crust of their berry tart. Again, the cream, filling, fruit slices, etc. were brilliant. But I honestly can’t remember the last time a tart/pie crust was this perfect a combination of crumbliness and firmness. Loved it; proves they can bake things to perfection. (10/10) 3. Home made mango ice cream. She poo-pooed the idea of Alphonso mangoes and proudly declared that their mango ice cream uses Banganapalli mangoes brought from her home town. And it shows. I’m a HUGE lover of mangoes, and this is the best mango ice cream ever. Literally feels like eating frozen mango sweetness, like Juhu Natural’s ice cream or like frozen Aam Ras. (10/10) 4. Perfectly baked almond and white chocolate cookie. We also tried their double chocolate chip cookie, but I didn’t particularly care for the slightly bitter taste. The almond and white chocolate cookie though: sugar, butter, flour and almonds mixed perfectly. Eating these cookies was like a ratatouille moment, being taken back to my childhood when I used to scrape cookie batter from the mixing bowl and eat. Divine cookies. (9/10) 5. Lack of publicity. They’ve been open for eight months, and there’s not a whisper about them. No big Instagram push. No celebrity marketing. So it shows in the crowd that walks in: people don’t come to take Instagram photos to show off that they’ve come here. People who come here seem to come here for the amazing goodies that they serve. This is a personal preference for me: I’m tired of all new cafés and restaurants being overrun by the Instagram crowd who seem to want to spend three hours in a café, but only buy 1-2 dishes, and make the place overly crowded. None of that here, and I’m super thankful and happy about that. Price-wise too, they were not insanely expensive. 3 pastries, 2 cookies, 2 scoops of ice cream worked out to little over ₹1,000, which seems reasonable for location, ambience, and quality.
