Chinese and Italian cuisines are offered at this cafe. That's a good idea to order perfectly cooked fried chicken, pasta and tacos. As many visitors say, coffee is really good.
It's easy to find Down The Road Cafe due to the great location. The patient staff meets you at this place all year round. The enjoyable service is something these restaurateurs care about. This spot provides dishes at democratic prices. The spectacular decor and exotic ambiance let guests feel relaxed here.
Yesterday my friends and I were planning to go for some shisha and were looking for a place that provides one in the Salt Lake area. Coincidently (and unfortunately) I had some coupons of Down the Road Café, which lead us to the choice of the venue. We reached there around 7 pm and found the place to be entirely empty which is pretty unusual given the location. The café also has some seats outside to provide an open shisha ambience.
Inside, the outlet is pretty averagely interiorised with minimal décor. There is a projector screen playing random music channels whereas the speakers play completely different tracks.
Now focusing towards the food…
★ Crispy Chilli Babycorn : Probably the lifesaving item it was for the evening. Nicely cooked with apt crispness and warmth. Really good compared to what was to follow. 1 star for this dish.
★ Man Chow Soup : I have man chow soup at many other places and can say that I have had better. Not that it was really bad at DTRC but it just wasn’t worth it. It was just bland.
★ Veg Manchurian : Again a disappointment. How can such a simple dish be ruined! The Manchurian balls were hard and chewy. The reason being they were dry inside, a sign of being overcooked. The gravy was decent.
★ Veg Hakka Noodles : Pretty much the average hakka noodles that you can get anywhere. Nothing great to remember.
★ Fresh Lime Soda : Nothing short of absolute stupidity. It was plain water and they must have added a little lime just for adventure. If you thought you couldn’t spend 100 bucks on a glass of water other than at a 4 star hotel…think again :-P
However we did make something interesting out of that glass. Check it in the photos.
The sole reason we were at this place was the shisha. We ordered 2 special hookah with ice base. Both were pretty average with low quantity of smoke. One of them smoked out within 15 minutes but was corrected after we notified the attendant. The flavors were also quite normal.
The service was also a displeasure. The staff being cooperative and polite, is easily confused and under skilled. Overall the place is a waste of your hard earned money. The decorations on the exterior might attract you but we all have heard the famous saying “All that glitters is not gold”.

I was not in a mood for any Hookah because I wanted some good food after my hectic schedule. My brunch started by ordering a plate full of Pollo Dello Chef coupled with a Chocolate Oreo shake. These are the two things I loved here the most. The spicy chicken cooked in Chef's special sauce along with the smooth spaghetti noodles will make you fall for it deeply. Tastes fabulous. The creamy hand spun Oreo Shake is yummy with cookie pieces and chocolate sauce blended together.

Next I ordered some Mexican delights - Tacos. The corn shells were stuffed with chicken, refried beans served with Salsa, cheese and sour cream. Somehow I didn't like it. The Taco Shell was not crispy and too soft and they didn't have adequate cheese in it. I even ordered a Shirley's Temple Non-Alcoholic Mocktail which had nothing special in it as the staff explained it to me.

Down The Road Cafe may be a good place for a group of friends craving for flavoured Hookahs. I said 'may be' because I didn't try their Hookahs. I personally think the food is moderate too although I love their Pollo Dello Chef and the Oreo Shake. Most importantly I think they charge more for every food than what they actually should be compared to some other similar Cafes nearby.
