Dosa Coffee on Sarat Bose Road is a great spot for hearty South Indian fare with a subtle local twist. We tried the Ghee Roast Dosa, Masala Dosa, Mixed Uttapam, Appam with Stew, Vada, Rice, and their filter Coffee — plus the variety of chutneys — and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. The dishes aren’t 100% like what you’d find in South India, but they come impressively close and the flavors are consistent. The ghee roast dosa was crisp and aromatic, the appam-stew combo was comforting, and the chutneys were excellent. Service is polite, portions are fair, and the ambience is casual yet clean — perfect for quick bites or leisurely meals. Overall, Dosa Coffee delivers a solid South Indian dining experience in Kolkata. With just a little more authenticity in flavors, it could easily be a 5-star spot.
