Chicken Thali -Rs.220 Donna's Cafe, Laitumkhrah, Shillong Indian & Chinese $$ 07.08.24 Yesterday I happened to see @shillongfoodblogger 's reel covering @donna_official_shillong & from the reel I noticed that they had Thalis on the menu. Now me & @iceshira have ran out of thali places to try out atleast in a 1km radius. So when I told him about this place he got excited. I was a little nervous incase it didn't turn out as good as his expectations. So we both headed out to try the thali. Now this is my 3rd visit in this location. The other two was when it was under two different names & themes. Inside there is a small indoor eatery next to the counter with wall tables & a bigger outdoor dining space. Issac decided to sit outside as it was a bit humid. Effort was put in to make the place look appealing. We had a look at the menu which was a large spread of Indian & Chinese but then we came here for the thalis. Issac ordered a Mutton Thali with pulao while I stuck with the normal Chicken Thali with plain rice. The food came after 10mins & boy did it look good. For a moment I was ecstatic as it far exceeded my expectations. My thali had very good quality rice, dal, 2pcs of Chicken Curry cooked with potato, fried mix veg, aloo Pitika, veg pakora, salad, mint chutney, papad & even kheer. The dal was so delicious that I didn't miss the curry. The chicken was tender with not an overbearing amount of masalas, Issac though felt that the mutton could have been softer. My thali was very good even if this is not a proper thali place. Will visit again to try out the other items.
