Before I started living in Bangalore my idea of Biryani was limited to Kolkata, Lucknow and Hyderabad style and it’s entirely my fault that I was oblivious to so many other great styles. One such is Dindigul Biryani and Thalappakatti is the most renowned name for Dindigul Biryani. So we didn’t waste much time once we learned that they have finally opened a branch in Bangalore.

On last Saturday we visited “Dindigul Thalappakatti” at Indiranagar. Ambiance is pleasant and service is courteous and prompt. We ordered Natti Koli Pepper Roast, Vanjaram (seer fish) roast and Thalappakatti Mutton Biryani. The Biryani definitely lived up to its fame, it was flavorful yet not too spicy and boneless mutton pieces were tender. Definitely, a must try from the menu. Vanjaram roast was also good. Somehow I was really disappointed with the natti koli pepper roast. Flavor of pepper was almost missing and the chicken pieces were really hard.

Overall I enjoyed my visit to Dindigul Thalappakatti restaurant.
