Dodo’s is a cozy, rustic, salt-of the-earth fish-ery (fish eatery). An almost extinct genre of eatery in rapidly changing and now very commercial Goa - which is perhaps why it is named Dodo’s. This 25-cover eatery overlooks the Chapora river with fantastic views of the Siolim-Chopdem bridge and of one of the tiny mangrove islands on the river. Most folks drive/ride down here to sample the lunch fish thali - which is wholesome at very affordable rates. The day I visited the thali came with a bowl of the rare and yummy scrambled fish egg (roe). One has the option to choose a fried rava coated fish with the thali - choose from mackerel (bangda), kingfish (visvon), sole fish (lepo), prawns, (sungtam) and sea perch/barramundi (chonak). In addition to the thali, one can also order a variety of fish with the option of frying it with rava or masala (reichado) coating. For those wanting to savour their fish with spirits and beverages of the alcoholic kind, be prepared to be disappointed - they don’t have a liquor license as yet and might never apply for one. The place gets crowded at lunch time and therefore it is advisable to reach there early. Refreshingly they have a small washroom and handwash area obviating the need to scour the adjoining countryside to do the deed! Parking is on the side of the road and if one has the option it’s advised that one reaches the place on two wheels rather than four. One of the best authentic food in Siolim. Me and my colleagues we keep visiting this place. Highly recommendable. Super affordable, delicious & very courteous staffs. It is better than any fancy restaurants around. If you love seafood thali. This is the best spot without any doubt .
