Absolutely Terrible Experience – Not Worth the Price or PrestigeVisited Dakshin at ITC Windsor on 07-Aug-2025 with a group of 5 people, expecting premium service and authentic South Indian cuisine. What we got was a complete disaster.First off, the food was extremely disappointing – bland, poorly presented, and far from what you’d expect from a luxury dining establishment. It was honestly disgusting, and nothing close to traditional or flavourful South Indian meals. They bizarrely served Rasam as a starter (which any true South Indian knows is supposed to be served towards the end of a meal). Who trained the chefs here?As if the food wasn’t bad enough, the service was absolutely appalling. We even saw one of the staff digging his nose in the back area, which was beyond unhygienic and unacceptable at any level, let alone a five-star hotel. It completely ruined our appetite. To top it all off, the bill came to a ridiculous ₹19,440.50 for this disaster of a meal. For that price, you’d expect world-class food and service – not this. This was a huge embarrassment and a waste of money. Will never return, and would not recommend it to anyone looking for an actual quality South Indian meal or a fine dining experience. ITC needs to seriously look into the management and hygiene standards of this restaurant.Avoid Dakshin – ITC Windsor at all costs.
We celebrated a birthday here, as a group of around 8 people. Even though we walked in without a reservation or a booking we got a complimentary birthday cake, which was nice. The food was very good, there is a wide selection of South Indian specialities. But the service is slow, and while the decor has an old-world charm, it needs an upgrade in terms of lighting. We didn’t get 2-3 side items or the drinks we ordered, despite reminding multiple times. Our water glasses were also not filled beyond the initial glass despite reminders. Dakshin offers old-world charm and experience, speciality Southern cuisine and a quiet, intimate dinner, but without the crisp and efficient service expected of a marquee restaurant in a 5-star hotel. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹2,000+ Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection
