You get food anywhere.. good food at some places.. and recommendable food joints are rare.. this restaurant had been one recommendable food joint.. and I wouldn't call it just a restaurant.. this place served awesome food.. with awesome hospitality. And I feel bad that such a place had to shift to Pune. For Me and my friends, this was just the place where we could take anyone and everyone and they were amazed at the hospitality and warmth of the hostess. This restaurant is owned.. run.. served and made all the more homely by a Goan family.. who are driven not by money but by their love for food.... and of course it served the best of Goan and other dishes.. on one hand I may be disappointed that they are shifting to Pune.. am happy that they would find better customers there.. will miss them..
Let me say it upfront, the food tastes great, though I tried only the vegetarian dishes.
I went there today for a take away, my expectations were quite high after reading the reviews here. I understand it's a cozy little family setup restaurant run by a mother-son duo, that makes people feel warm and welcomed. I was asked to pay Rs.380 and wasn't given a receipt. When I asked for one from the son, suddenly a guy in shorts (might be his brother) intrudes the conversation and asks me in a jocular way why would I need a receipt, would l file it as a memento and took 10 minutes to give me a receipt. This is the nadir of hospitality and to the guy-in-shorts, Bro, Modiji asked for the receipt.
I don't know if they try to do away without giving receipts to everyone, but guys don't forget the receipt.
My wife and I visited this restaurant....which is actually a residence 4m the outside on 26th jan....they were a bit understaffed on that day...due to ppl taking leaves as a result of makar sankranti & pongal the week earlier..
Liked the ambience...although the 1st floor was closed on that day as they open it only for groups having 14+ people...
We ordered king's prawn fry, goa dum biriyani (we preferred a less spicy version) & fresh lime soda...
The king's prawn fry was awesome...the goa dum biriyani was sufficient for 2 ppl...with a large leg piece....
What we liked about this restaurant is that we got a chance to interact with its owners - an elderly couple and her 2 sons....one of whom who took our order....& someone who has a good sense of humor....
Their crab delicacies are also recommended....do try them out if you have time...finishing any crab delicacy takes a fair amount of time...
Whats more surprising they dont charge service tax/vat...when they provided us with the bill...
Overall a nice dining experience....
Looking 4ward for our next visit to vizag..& yet another dining xprnce @ cozinha de goa...
