After a good movie, a good dinner is essential. With similar ideas, we chose to go to Coastline after a lot of deliberation. Idea was to have some nice Appam and Stew. Coastline is part of the Amaravati group of hotels, primarily a seafood place. The place was stinking as we entered, on enquiry they attributed the smell to the seafood that they serve - realisation. We were quite hungry, wanted to try ‘Nethili Fry’ - only to feel dejected, it wasn't available. Ended up ordering the
1) Nandu Rasam (Crab Soup South Indian way) - This was yummy, just enough spicy, just enough watery, a must have if you would love crab and the taste of it
2)Chicken 65 - Even I can make decent chicken 65, it was just okay
3)Chicken Tikka - Yummy, really well cooked chicken and the masala was amazing. Only flaw was that they didn’t serve mint chutney, a must have with chicken tikka. We were either too hungry or lost in the taste of the chicken tikka and the missing mint chutney didn’t hurt us as much
4)Mutton and Chicken stew - I guess they prepare their stew upfront and add cooked meat later. Coming from Kerala, growing up eating stew, it was a disaster. I’m being very critical here, pretty sure someone new to trying stew might have liked it, but not me. Don’t, don’t try this if you have been waiting to have stew.
5)Malabar Fish Curry - Same logic, depending on which fish we choose, they would put cooked fish in a bowl of already prepared curry and serve it. But the curry was decent, definitely not the best but just decent enough that we didn’t complain
6)Appam - They had a live Appam counter, the Appams were good, I always like a tinge of sweetness in Appam, it was there. I tried the egg Appam also, it wasn’t disappointing either. You may try the Appam here
