Chaturbhuj RameshChandra is a modest eatery located on Pungal Pada Road in Jodhpur, known primarily for its renowned gulab jamuns. Despite having a sparse online presence with just a basic profile on Zomato and no recent updates from the owners, it manages to capture the attention of sweet-toothed locals and visitors alike.
The reviews from past visitors reflect an admiration for the establishment's gulab jamuns, particularly noting their rich yet light taste due to the use of ghee—a signature trait that sets them apart in the local sweets scene. Frequent patrons have also appreciated the welcoming ambiance created by the owner, who is noted for his courteous demeanor. However, the lack of recent feedback suggests a need for more up-to-date insights about the current quality and offerings.
Open daily from 07:30 to 21:00, Chaturbhuj RameshChandra offers a budget-friendly option for those indulging in Indian sweets. While these gulab jamuns are particularly highlighted, there is limited information on other menu items or specialties. Visitors should be aware of the lack of detailed information but might still find pleasure in what appears to be a hidden gem for sweet lovers in the city.
Gulab jamuns as everyone knows are probably the best in the world and not heavy to eat even though they are made of ghee. The owner is the most humble man on earth
Firstly a big thank you to the Zomato team for taking my feedback & agreeing to add this sweet shop into their Jodhpur listing. Two reasons for me taking the push to convince them - firstly this is a legendary institution for its Gulab jamun with history, reputation, service, taste & quality. that I was surprised is not listed at all. Secondly I suspect and deeply suspect that many previous reviewers have wrongly been posting their experiences of this shop on another eatery named as Chaturbhuj Parasaram ; either due to name ignorance as the 2 shops sit side by side. ( see photo attached) & Chaturbhuj Rameshchandra was not listed before.Chaturbhuj as its known locally is now in its 5th Gen run era. Saurabh Aggarwal the latest Scion sits legs folded on a white mattress at the till on a wintry New Years evening. He narrates that this is the original shop founded by his ancestors and clarified that the Parasaram shop just next by was started when the family tree started separating and a few Uncle’s set it up independently. No hard feelings he smiles. Saurabh mentioned that the Gulab Jamun is freshly made in multiple batches though the day. He explained they don’t add Khoya or paneer unlike shops in Mumbai & Delhi. The syrup / Chachni content is much lesser, the size medium and colour mild orange than usual brown. Taste was amazing, melt in the mouth with explosion of rich aroma and a lingering taste of sublime sweetness. Mind you the sugar content is not high so that’s even better for health. Even as I was standing there Saurabh and team behind him were packing boxes as customers kept coming in ordering in Kgs. The Parasaram shop next was empty and I did feel a bit sorry for the old uncle sitting at the till watching his illustrious founding family next door sell, sell and sell . Ps.The GJ’s as teens call them must not be kept in the fridge as they lose shape & taste cautioned Saurabh, you can keep them for 4-5 days fresh and they are packed well in festive boxes. Apparently they sell 200-250 kgs minimum every day and boxes are even exported to UK, Canada, UAE & Singapore by Marwari sweet tooth followers. Price is INR 20/ piece expensive even for metro cities but it’s worth it.What better way starting my new year than with such Delish sweetness. Welcome 2020 !!!!
Thank you Ravi . Good to hear your perspective & the family history .. just a q curiously . If you knew reviewers were posting reviews Of Rameshchandra on your Parasram Page ( I checked personally many reviews and see this mistake) why didn’t u raise to Zomato earlier that there needs to be 2 different shops to compare reviews ? Seems in a way seems You were riding all along on shop of Rameshchandra’s posts on your Parasram name which is not correct !!!!
