I came to the restaurant with my siblings, who are both suffering from food poisoning now. From the moment I stepped into this supposed eatery, I was met with a staggering level of ineptitude that defied even the lowest expectations. The hygiene—or rather, the abject lack thereof—was the first affront. My initial dish arrived with a surprise garnish of dirt. When I requested a replacement, I was greeted with new plates adorned with soap residue, the unwashed remnants of their lazy dishwashing process glaring under the lights. The utensils were no better—forks and spoons that had clearly seen neither water nor care for several services. They were unable to provide a knife altogether, an issue I initially dismissed as a minor inconvenience but later realized was emblematic of the establishment’s overall incompetence. The staff's approach only exacerbated the situation. Not a single glove was in sight as bare hands were used to serve rice—an unsanitary spectacle that would horrify any diner. Adding to the insult, the staff spoke neither English nor Malayalam, a baffling oversight in Kerala, where these languages are commonly expected. When I attempted communication in Hindi, I was met with curt, rude replies, stripping any semblance of professionalism from the service. The food itself was a dismal afterthought. The salad was a watery mess that bordered on offensive, while the shish kebabs were an exercise in extremes. One kebab was burnt to a cancerous extremes, its bitterness unmaskable, while the other two was tragically undercooked, I later also discovered that I had paid for 4 and got only 3, perhaps for the best. The accompanying chutney was inedible, with flavors so acrid they could be used to kill the roaches I spotted around the restaurant kitchen. The mayonnaise served with the kebabs was excessively sweet, a jarring and unpleasant mismatch. The biryani, meanwhile, was mushy and overcooked, reducing what should have been a simple comfort to a textureless disaster. Calling this place Charminar is the height of insult anyone could come up with towards any hyderabadi biryani lovers. If you're looking for a good place to eat keep looking, if you're starving for days and need something to eat, ordering from anywhere else will be better. For those seeking a meal in Thrissur, my only advice is to steer far, far away from this particular train wreck of a restaurant. This is not a place for any food lovers with a sense of basic hygiene. In its current state, this restaurant cannot justify its existence. It is in dire need of either an immediate, comprehensive revamp or permanent closure. The disregard for cleanliness, basic service etiquette, and even the simplest culinary standards make it a health hazard masquerading as a dining establishment. I had chicken tikka biryani from here. The portion size was good and the flavours were also good as compared to other places in Thrissur, although I felt that the price is on the higher side. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
