Rating:0 We visited this restaurant on December 26th 2024 with our family, expecting a wonderful holiday dining experience. Unfortunately, what we encountered was utterly disappointing. Despite initially letting us in, the staff informed us that they don't serve outside guests during the holiday season due to being busy. This was not only inconvenient but also felt like a blatant insult. If they were going to enforce such a policy, it would have been considerate of them to clearly indicate this outside the restaurant, saving us the trouble of entering and being turned away. The lack of transparency and poor communication from the staff left a sour taste, and we ended up having to find an alternative place to dine. Unless they improve their customer service and communication, I would strongly advise against visiting this restaurant, especially during peak holiday seasons.

During our stay at the Turtle on the Beach Hotel we ate here quite a few times. The food is very good in taste, presentation and variety. The dinner buffet has something for every taste. The service is excellent. Special shoutout to managers Jibin & Ajesh for their generousity! Our servers Amal and Jobon for being attentive and helpful. We felt special and very much at home. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by Amal, our server for the evening. His warm and gentle demeanor set the tone for a memorable dining experience. Amal’s exceptional hospitality and knowledge about the menu made our evening even more enjoyable. If you visit Catamaran, make sure to ask for Amal – he truly elevates the dining experience with his attentive and friendly service. To start, we ordered the dal and rasam. Both dishes were executed to perfection, with the dal providing a comforting, familiar taste, and the rasam offering a flavorful introduction to South Indian spices. For a touch of adventure, I decided to try crab for the first time. The dish was prepared beautifully, making my first experience with crab delightful and far from intimidating. Catamaran stands out as an ideal dining spot for couples, like us, who appreciate variety. The menu boasts plenty of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Whether you’re craving a simple, hearty meal or looking to explore more exotic flavors, there’s something for everyone here. Kovalam’s dining scene is often divided between high-end luxury resort restaurants and very local, regional joints. Catamaran, however, strikes a perfect balance.
