According to the clients' comments, Chinese dishes here are quite nice and the menu is well-organized. Visit this restaurant to try perfectly cooked kacamak, fried fish and chicken biryani. Food delivery is a big plus of Calcutta Diaries. The professional staff welcomes people all year round. Cool service is something visitors like here. This place offers you a great choice of dishes for attractive prices. But facebook users' reviews don't give this spot a high rating.
In spite of such a price, I thought of ordering biriyani, because it takes a lot of time and effort to cook authentic biriyani in home. But for the biriyani I got, I can just say a single word - disaster. Absolutely bland taste. No aroma which you get in Kolkata styled biriyanis. The rice was overcooked and as a result it became mashed up, which is just horrible. The chicken piece was hard and completely dry and as a result it felt chewy within mouth. In a good biriyani, the meat should be soft and melting in mouth and rice should be able to keep it's shape and shouldn't be that soft. But the irony is, it's the exact opposite here. Sorry to say, but I ended up throwing half of this garbage in the garbage bin.
Although they didn't, specifically, mention that the biriyani would be Kolkata styled. But as the name of the restaurant is "Calcutta Diaries", I ordered only with the hope that my craving for Kolkata biriyani would be satisfied. So guys, if you are expecting an authentic Kolkata biriyani, my suggestion would be to stay away - or you will be disheartened for sure.
