It's a must while visiting this cafe to taste great coffee. The fast service is another important additionCafe MetroMix is ranked 4.3 within the Google grading system.
The place is so amazing, and it's very good food quality also the ambience is very nice overall the cafe is good Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹400–600
Located in a quiet and peaceful residential area, it's easily missed. I would rightfully bestow it with the 'Hidden Gem' tag. Judging from my perfect rating of 5 stars, you'd be wondering what's so 'perfect' about this cafe? Well, it's not. I mean nothing is 'perfect' but just the experience I had in here was amazing and I felt they are worthy of a 5 on 5.
Like I mentioned, it's hidden in the small lanes, surrounded by residential societies so it's pretty silent outside. And I am glad that's the case indoors too. Of Course there's some funky song playing in the background, but not so loud as to disturb you or hinder your conversation. This cafe offers a very comfortable, homely aura, at least to me. It feels like its a home-turned cafe. The decor is soothing. It's dimly lit, with the tables having overhead lamps, so just the right lighting proves it to be very calming. There are shelves with fiction novels and magazines, while every table has a game to pass your time with until the food arrives. The games include Chess, Checkers, Connect Four and Uno cards, so simple fun ones. There's also a section where there are some nice and simple paintings, done not by some professional artist, but by a budding painting enthusiast (that's what it looked like) which added to the homely motif of the place. There's also some paintings done on dishes which nicely correlates to being in a cafe. So for me it was simply a very peaceful and relaxing place and reminded me of home.
Let's start with some grubs,
CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD - It was, just as the whole idea of this place, homely and simple. If I were to make a salad for myself, this is how it'd turn out to be. Not too fancy, just the main ingredients and a bit of effort in presentation. This salad had literally just 3 ingredients, crunchy iceberg lettuce, juicy chicken chunks and small cubes of bread. I wanted to say croutons, but they were not actually fried (they were oh-so-slightly toasted)nor crunchy. In a way that's better as it's a bit more healthy, but still I'd love the fried and crunchy bread version. Yes it was all dressed up nicely in what I am hoping to be olive oil.
MAGGIE - This is the to-go meal for everyone, when one is just too bored to make anything but is hungry and craving the 2 minute noodles every 90's kid grew up on. All the homely feeling made me somewhat nostalgic and craving for this dish. Again, prepared just as if one would make it at home. No extra masala (that's how I personally like it) , not too dry, a little bit soupy and a garnish of coriander on top for a light touch of presentation. A warm bowl of soupy maggie can cure your home-sickness for sure!
CHEF's SPECIAL METROMIX PIZZA - After munching on the appetisers it was time for the mains. The name of this dish got me excited and it turned out to be exactly as I imagined, full of veggies but with a little twist. It was a thin crusted pizza, the base offering a nice crunch. Generally cheese comes over the top of the veggies, but here the cheese formed the bed for veggies on top! The three types of bell peppers, red, yellow and green along with onions and black olives on top of cheese was nothing short of a colourful (and tasty) painting on the canvas of white cheese. I really loved it!
Before we move on to their delectable desserts, let me mention that along with all the perks of being cosy and their treats having a sense of being homemade, it's also a very value for money, pocket friendly place. I am not saying this because I received a massive discount for booking a table here using a popular application, but even without that offer, I would love to, and more importantly be able to afford to dine in here very frequently.
TIRAMISU - The slice of this pastry was quite generous, and the cocoa acted as the cherry on the cake. It had a rich and a bit dark coffee flavour to it. I'd recommend it for people who don't believe desserts should be sweet.
CHOCOLATE MOUSSE - A big cylindrical portion of dark chocolate coloured goodieness, drizzled with caramel. Breaking the crunchy outer coating revealed the soft , creamy, melt-in-the-mouth mousse within. A delightful way to end a delightful meal.
It was too sad that I found out about Cafe Metromix days before I was supposed to move back to Mumbai, but I would really be looking forward to a delightfully peaceful time here on my next visit to Pune.
