Good restaurant which does captures the essence of Parsi cuisine and culture. In this you will find many Parsi family having food here. Food here is really good and cooked fresh, it’s simple food and specially non-spicy. In case one only wants to try spicy food, this is place is not for you. Food is cooked fresh and looks good also. I really liked the food, my wife didn’t enjoyed much, Kid enjoyed and finished his meal. Also, chicken roam around which is good for the kids. But be careful not to allow kids to play too much with chickens as owner doesn’t like that. Both veg and non-veg options are present. Do check with staff before ordering, to get idea of the ingredients of the dish. Staff is very nice and helpful. It’s very near to Fire Temple and good parking space near by. Café Farohar in Pune is a delightful eatery that captures the essence of Parsi cuisine and culture. Here’s a detailed review: Ambiance Café Farohar features a warm, inviting ambiance with a blend of modern and traditional decor. The interior is adorned with Parsi motifs, photographs, and quirky elements that give it a homely yet chic feel. The seating is comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual dining and social gatherings. Outside shed with sitting is open to all however inside the main building including hotel rooms are strictly for Parsis only. Menu The menu at Café Farohar is a tribute to authentic Parsi cuisine, offering a variety of dishes that are both flavorful and hearty: Breakfast Options: The café serves traditional breakfast items like akuri (spiced scrambled eggs) and bun maska (buttered bread), which are perfect for a quick bite. Main Courses: Signature dishes include dhansak (a lentil-based dish with meat), berry pulao (a fragrant rice dish with berries and meat), and salli boti (a spicy mutton dish). The vegetarian options, such as patra and paneer dishes, are equally appealing. Snacks and Sides: The mutton and vegetable puffs are particularly popular, alongside other classic snacks like kheema pav and dhansak with rice. Desserts: Traditional Parsi dessert like custard can be tried else wait for the hand churned mango & custard apple ice-cream sold by a man in an auto at the location or elsewhere in Udvada. Beverages The beverage menu features refreshing options such as Parsi chai, which is rich and aromatic. They also serve fresh juices and sodas, complementing the meal perfectly. Do try the Parsi ginger, raspberry sodas & ice-cream soda. Service The service at Café Farohar is friendly however the owner lady comes across initially as unwelcoming & aggressive but as you get to know each other, she isn't bad- just blunt & business like. The atmosphere encourages a relaxed dining experience. Pricing The pricing is moderate, offering good value for the quality and quantity of food served. Portions are generous, making it a satisfying experience without breaking the bank. Conclusion Café Farohar is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Parsi cuisine in Pune. With its inviting ambiance, diverse menu, and attentive service, it provides a memorable dining experience that celebrates Parsi culture. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Parsi food or trying it for the first time, Café Farohar is sure to impress. Come here for the atmosphere rather than the food. If you haven't developed a taste for Parsi cuisine, this food isn't for you. You will get to see red eye & other turtles & chickens kept on campus. The loo is dirty & the overall upkeep of the building & campus is rather poor. A very homely place where there is no crowd and has a peaceful atmosphere. Traditional parsi food which is quite rare to find in places like bombay. Food which is quick and delicious is always a delight. Exotic pets like ducks and tortoises is an attractive element for kids. It is the polar opposite of goa where it is a fast loud paced are whereas it is a relaxed space with minimal public and quiet atmosphere. The service is top notch and very friendly. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹600–800 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Caramel Custard, Chicken Berry Pulao, Boi Fried, Sizzling Prawns
