Went there on Ostomi. The place was moderately packed with customers. Asked the receptionist for a table for two and was completely ignored for a minute and a half. Asked another waiter for a table for two. The said waiter joined a empty two seater table with a family table and told us to sit together with a family that was looking for a table as well. When I cleared the air that I was not with them the said waiter simply laughed and said “ Don't mind. Sit together for now ! “. Took me a whole minute to digest this glorious act of stupidity. As you can see the service is very bad. We ordered two shakes and a pizza. The pizza was overpriced (close to 500 for a regular size pizza). The shakes were over priced too (around 300 each). The mango shake was tasty (still not worth paying 300 bucks though ) but the chocolate shake tasted like cold complan. The shakes are offered in cheap plastic glasses. Total bill for 2 was about 1100. This place is completely overhyped. Wont make the mistake of visiting twice. The prices are the like the cafes in south but the service is terrible and the food clearly not adequate both in taste and in quantity. Price per person: ₹400–600 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
This was my 5th visit to Calcutta 64 Café (Salt Lake outlet), and honestly, the most disappointing one so far. I might actually think twice before coming back. I went with my partner on Dashami, hoping to skip the long Pujo queues and enjoy a nice cup of coffee and tea. At least that part started well — we got a table immediately, no waiting. We ordered Hazelnut Cappuccino, a Darjeeling Second Flush Tea, and a plate of pasta. The pasta arrived in less than 5 minutes, which was surprising. But when we asked about the coffee, the waiter just said “it’s coming.” We waited 10 more minutes, then started eating. Finished the pasta, still no coffee. Asked again, got the same response. Finally, after 45 minutes of placing the order and asking a second waiter, the coffee and tea showed up — after our dinner was over. Service: 1/5 — You really can’t blame it on rush because there were plenty of empty tables. And honestly, who drinks their coffee after finishing pasta? Food: Pasta – very average Coffee – honestly, below average Tea – fine, nothing worth mentioning With so many cafes and competitors in the same area, Calcutta 64 really needs to level up their game. I’ve had better experiences here before, so this was quite a letdown. Hope this was just a one-off, but it definitely left a bad impression this time. There is a famous line in a song by Illenium - Good things fall apart. That is exactly what happened here. The Watermelon cooler felt like a syrup with water which was not blended well. In fact to an extent it was bitter. The crunchy cold coffee you should read as soggy sappy biscuits in cold coffee. Lemonade was the only thing that was decent. Finally the Tandoori Chicken. Thank God we didn't order anything else, caue I could see form everyone's plates, we remember those dishes and it all felt missing something everywhere. The Tandoori Chicken was over burnt on one side, undercooked in the joints. There was just too many marinade on it. Like come on - how can you screw up the most basic thing that everyone would order. Pathetic. This not the calcutta 64 we remember. ACs were not even working. The soul of the place died some time ago. It has been replaced by something which I can't even explain. So many memories are now just... Memories. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1
