Nestled on Chandak Road near the local jail, CAFE1960 is a restaurant that provides a blend of dining experiences in Pithoragarh. The available offerings range from breakfast through dinner, with options to enjoy your meal indoors or amid the surrounding views with outdoor seating. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or more substantial fare, there are dining choices for varied preferences, including small plates and "all you can eat" selections. Complimentary parking, both on the street and in a lot, enhances accessibility for patrons.
Despite its captivating ambiance, some visitors have noted variability in service speed and certain menu items. However, the restaurant's atmosphere remains a highlight, albeit opinions on food quality differ. With amenities such as gender-neutral restrooms and an acceptance of reservations, it caters to diverse customer needs. Guests who frequent CAFE1960 often enjoy its cosiness and casual vibe, making it suitable for groups and families—with consistent wheelchair accessibility and kid-friendly services. The lack of a detailed online presence beyond a minimal Google profile suggests limited recent input from the owners themselves, leaving some curious about what else this modestly profiled establishment might offer.
Operating from 10:30 AM to 10:30 PM every day, CAFE1960 stands prepared to serve its guests to the best of its capabilities. Payment is facilitated by modern methods, including NFC mobile payments, which align with the various service conveniences—from dine-in to delivery and even drive-through options. While reviews highlight varying experiences, CAFE1960 seems committed to offering a unique dining venue in Pithoragarh despite being somewhat elusive on mainstream directories.
Cafe 1960 is a largish, somewhat rustic café on the road to Chandak, and ironically just above the new district jail. There's a variety of seating under sheds and also two small thatch cottages. The flooring has gravel in some parts, in others, hardened clay. On sunny days, it gets a lot of natural light, and abounds in birdsong. It's primarily a hangout for locals, so the food and beverages are modestly priced. Service is discreet and no one really bothers you, unless called. The tea and strawberry shake I ordered was really good and great-value too.
