Went to "By the Blue" at Geand Mercure for a Sunday Brunch. Though it was crowded at the time we reached but the entire setup of buffet was effectively managed.
Loved the pleasant vibes while entering. Once we were seated, we were greeted by staff who warmly welcomed and helped us to make the day as a special one. Staff was courteous and prompt.
I tried mocktails, chaats, pastries, rice, noodles, curries, cakes, breads, salads, fruits, curd rice, desserts etc. With its upbeat poolside ambience and mostly efficient service, this restaurant is a nice choice if you’re looking for a good buffet.
Good variety of cuisines for brunch ranging from Indian to Continental. There were several options for all kinds of menu. Starters, main course, live counters, chats, desserts etc. Decent taste of food whatever we tried. Pool amenities are also included in the brunch....such a steal deal, right !!
Overall, the experience was a joyride for the taste buds...."By The Blue" is a much needed indulgence, head over for a luxurious experience in food and drinks wrapped around superb service. I would definitely want to come again for this rollercoaster of flavours.
Very very bad food. Bad service added 5 star rating to the hotel. Absolutely waste of money. Even the hotel offers food free, don’t come, they are going to ruin your party/ happiness.
Recently visited By the Blue - Grand Mercure to meet a few amazing foodies . This place is located behind the koromangala BDA complex . Situated among the big bungalows of koromangala this place isn't very hard to locate . We went in to the hotel, parked our vehicles and walked towards by the blue . It is a beautifully located poolside restaurant which has the seating one another floor to give you an aerial view of the swimming pool . We walked in and met a few foodies and sat down in a table right to the pool in the bar area . Then we were offered starters and drinks and I chose to go with vegetarian starters . I also ordered a black magic. The starters were from a live grill right behind us . In a few minutes the starters were on my table right in from of me . The plate had tandoori paneer , grilled cauliflower, baby corn, pickles and carrot . I directly dug into the paneer which had a spice rub coated on it . The paneer was soft and moist, the spice on it gave it a very different taste unlike any normal tandoori paneer. Then I ate the baby corn which was decently grilled but lacked a bit of seasoning. The cauliflower was also grilled but had absolutely no seasoning and was depending on the sauce served along . I couldn't get a proper mouthful of the pickle but I guess it was better than the cauliflower. Then my friend told my to try the prawns as they were amazing and they didn't disappoint . I had no clue how to eat prawns do my friend knifed the tail off for me and then I tried a piece . It was amazing, the crispness from the grill blended so beautifully with actual texture of the prawns and made me go back for another bite. In the mean time I was sipping through my black magic which was lemon, pepper and salt in coke. It was very tangy and refreshing but I wasn't sure if I'd go in for another glass of it . We then decided to go to the main course, we walked upstairs and there it is -a huge lineup of dishes to choose from . They probably had around 30 dishes up for us to try and then at the back of my mind it strikes me - let's try every single dish!! I thoroughly went through all the dishes that they were serving and started planning my food order and I definitely had to start off with the salads . I got some coleslaw, hummus and a few other salads to full my plate. I also picked up a few breads from their huge spread of breads. I came down and ate the salads and I liked them. The coleslaw was very nice, the hummus was very dense with flavour. I picked up three different breads and two of them were soft and airy. The third one was a horrible experience, I couldn't even break through it and had to leave it. Then I went to the main course and they had 4 curries . I tried a spoonful of each of them and they were good but nothing very intriguing. The roti was decent but a little stretchy. Then came my all time star - the biryani. They had a corn and mushroom dum biryani which was actually much better than many of the dishes put up. It had the right amount of flavour, the flavour of the dum spread through it very nicely. Then I walked up to the waffles counter and ordered one. A few minutes later I went and picked it up, went to the dessert section and added a big scoop of ice cream and topped it off with choco chips and honey. It was visually stunning and the first bite was absolute heaven. The ice cream and choco chips seemed to be made for each other on the waffles. It made a few friends go and throw some ice cream on their waffles too!! Then I went to the desserts which was a bit of a let down. For such a good spread it didn't impress. I wanted to try every dessert on the table there and hence did. They only good desserts were the kiwi moose and the strawberry cheese cake. The rest of the dishes were dry and lacked flavour. The chocolate was dense and dry,a chocolate that not many would like. Then I tried the mint custard which had a very weird texture ,unpleasant to the palates. The Indian desserts also failed to impress. It lacked sweetness and was too heavy.
Overall a good experience, met so many inspiring foodies but the food didn't turn out to be the best I had ever eaten. I feel they should work on quality rather than the quantity!! But they did put up a decent show!!
