Unfortunately, my visit to this much hyped South Indian spot turned out to be the worst dining experience I’ve had in a while. 1. Long Wait in the Rain: I waited nearly an hour in a queue outside, in the rain, just to get in 2. No Seating Space: After the long wait, I had to eat standing, as the place is so cramped that even 10 people inside make it feel chaotic 3. No Basic Amenities: There are no washrooms available for customers 4. Dosa Disaster: The dosa was nothing like what you’d expect from a South Indian kitchen. It was more like a thick oily parantha. A good dosa should have a texture that goes from crisp to soft, but this was uniformly heavy 5. No Sambar Served: Surprisingly, they don’t even serve sambar, which is a staple with dosa across most South Indian cuisines Highly overrated and poorly thought through experience. A Hidden Gem in Bandra – The Benne: Heritage Bangalore Dosa I recently had the chance to visit The Benne - Heritage Bangalore Dosa in Bandra, and what an experience it was! Admittedly, I was extremely frustrated at first — the wait time was almost an hour just to get in. But let me tell you, the moment I took the first bite, all that irritation completely vanished. The food here is nothing short of spectacular. Their dosas are a true masterpiece — unbelievably crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and infused with a rich, buttery flavor that instantly melts in your mouth. It's easily one of the best renditions of authentic Bangalore-style dosas I’ve had in Mumbai. The staff and the manager deserve a special mention. Despite the crowd and pressure, they remained incredibly polite, patient, and helpful throughout. Their hospitality made the dining experience even better. A few things to keep in mind: The place is quite small and can only standing about 15-20 people at a time, so be prepared for a wait, there is no seating inside or outside. No valet parking. Car parking is big issue in Bandra. But trust me — the food is absolutely worth it. If you’re in Bandra and craving some truly authentic South Indian flavors, The Benne is an absolute must-visit. Go with some time on your hands and an empty stomach — you won’t regret it!
