Basil is one of those rare restaurants that truly lives up to its glowing reviews. From the moment you step in, the cozy ambiance sets the perfect mood for a relaxed meal. The décor is tasteful and inviting, making it an ideal spot for both casual hangouts and special occasions. However, the only minor drawback was the choice of music, which felt out of place with the otherwise warm and serene atmosphere. The food and drinks at Basil were exceptional. It was one of the few places in Dehradun where we found both espresso and Irish coffee on the menu — and both were perfectly crafted. The paneer tikka stole the show with its tender, smoky chunks and just the right amount of spice, paired with a flavorful mint chutney. The peri peri crispy corn, though slightly sweeter than expected, still made for a satisfying appetizer. But the real standout was the onion rings — crisp, golden, and served with a delicious mayo dip that tied everything together. For the main course, we opted for pizza, and the accommodating staff suggested a half-and-half option when we couldn’t decide between two flavors — a thoughtful touch that made the meal even better. The combination of quality food, friendly service, and reasonable pricing made the entire dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. Basil is definitely worth a visit, and I’ll be looking forward to stopping by again whenever I’m in town.
