Ballavacharya, Oros is a hidden gem on NH66. If you’re anywhere near Oros or simply passing through on NH66, Ballavacharya is an absolute must-visit. This small, quiet eatery run lovingly by the Narvekar family delivers an experience that feels both deeply local and refreshingly honest. What sets this place apart is their dedicated vegetarian and non-vegetarian kitchens, a thoughtful practice that preserves authenticity, purity, and flavour integrity. On Thursdays, they serve only vegetarian meals, with their standout Puranpoli that hits the perfect balance of softness, sweetness with sajuk tuup. On Sankashti, they offer Ukadiche Modak. Steamed, delicate, and true to traditional Maharashtrian taste. A wonderful treat if you’re around on the right day. Thali meals are available only for lunch, and they’re freshly cooked every single day in limited quantities. Evenings feature a smaller à-la-carte style menu, again prepared fresh. If you’re travelling with a larger group, it helps to inform them in advance so they can prepare accordingly. Every dish carries authentic Malvani/Konkani flavours with that unmistakable “umami” local depth that’s hard to find elsewhere.
