Tried the pineapple kesari and it was decent, though not quite as authentic as the pineapple kesari usually available at Pothys in the evenings. The Tirunelveli halwa, however, was disappointing and seemed to have a slight metallic taste, possibly from the storage utensils. Unfortunately, the Adai–Avial combo wasn’t available during my visit. Ahh go by 4 PM to get fresh Kesari. Balaji Cafe at Vazhapally Junction is one of those classic vegetarian spots that capture the real essence of Thiruvananthapuram’s traditional taste. Their South Indian dishes especially the ghee roast, idiyappam, puri masala, and medu vada are fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The wheat halwa here is a must-try many locals swear by its rich aroma and authentic taste. The cafe offers good value for money, and it’s conveniently located near the busy East Fort area, making it ideal for a quick breakfast or evening tea break. Service is generally quick and polite, though the seating area is limited, and it can get a bit crowded during rush hours. Cleanliness could be slightly improved, but overall, the atmosphere feels lively and welcoming. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
