I understand that restaurants can have bad days. They can be overwhelmed because of a busy day and that is completely understandable. Today I thought that this was one of those days for BHB, after all I know how good this place has been before. Waiting 1.5 hours just for our fries and sandwiches was forgiven easily because we thought this was a one - off event. It does not change the fact, that the restaurant staff should not give us reasons like 'the other table ordered first' when we asked why we are made to wait for over an hour for some french fries whereas the table next to ours was receiving their orders continuously. Fine, we tolerate that, move on, have a nice time. We asked the staff politely many times to please hurry a bit. Every time the answer we got was '15-20 mins'. Seems absurd for some peri peri french fries and sandwiches, right? It got to a point that the staff - very much to our surprise - began ignoring us. One particular staff member, was very adamant on telling us how he has already served us half of our order. Kudos to you man, you are half way there, I guess.
We still decided to ignore this, and waited for our food, last of which arrived almost 1.5 hours after we had first ordered. The food was good, not bad. Has definitely been better before. Not worth what it cost.
Convinced that the cafe just had a bad day, we ended up making the most of it and had a good time afterall. You'd think the incompetence ends here? No.
At the billing section, Mr 'I got you half of your order' confronted my friend again and told him that he called him very rudely and in a disrespectful manner, which was actually my friend calling him after he had very conveniently ignored the 'excuse me' 3 times when we knew he could hear us. He had the audacity to argue and quarrel with us over this. I had enough of it by this time. Restaurant staff, accusing their customers of being disrespectful and confronting them at check out, after making us wait for over 1.5 hours for a simple order comprising of just 5 options and ignoring the customer's query of where in the world their food is, is just funny to me. If a cafe cannot service 2 tables at the same time, if you are going to make one entire table wait for more than an hour just because another table ordered before them and you will need one entire hour to service them first, please, for the love of god, shut your cafe down. And after all this, if your staff decides to be rude to the customers because they ask why their food is 1.5 hours late, it is a very sorry situation.
It was definitely a horrifying experience today, which we could have easily forgotten, but Mr.'I got you half of your order' just sealed the deal for me. I will not say I am angry over the staff member pointing out something that he thought was rude to him, completely fine. I just believe he shouldn't be the one teaching me etiquettes when he blatantly ignored us numerous times.
I miss the old BHB and their charming aura, friendly staff and fast service. I just feel it's all lost now.
