On my journey from Jharkhand to Sikkim, I stopped for lunch in Baisi, a place close to my heart. About 25 years ago, as a student, I spent over a month in Baisi block. Back then, it was a charming village with modern facilities, full of warmth and simplicity. Sadly, the Baisi I loved has changed—its old beauty is now hidden under concrete, and it feels less like the village I remember. Still, a colorful “I Love Baisi” sign caught my eye, pulling me to stop at Baisi Darbar Restaurant. The food was tasty, bringing comfort after a long drive, and the tea was absolutely amazing—hot, flavorful, and just perfect. The restaurant’s ambiance was pleasant, with a welcoming vibe that made my break enjoyable. It felt like a small piece of Baisi’s old charm was still alive here. Though the town has lost some of its magic, this stop reminded me why I loved Baisi years ago. The restaurant was a bright spot, offering good food and a cozy place to rest.
