Yes, I have had better bagels but this place does have some really scrumptious bagel sandwiches. They are my go-to breakfast option and I haven't been disappointed yet. Heat them a bit and you're good to go. I do recommend them to work on getting the bread consistency right but otherwise I absolutely love the choices they have!!!
Sigh. I had such hopes for this place when it first opened. However after waiting a whole month and hoping things would improve, nothing has changed.
See, when you really learn how to make bagles - you first think about how you are going to get that nice soft bread inside while keeping the crisp exterior intact., Then you look at what the world is serving up around you and see how you can take it one step further and actually improve upon it. Bagel Bro has done none of that unfortunately.
The bagels are tough, hard and have a consistent stale feature about them. The creme cheese tastes nothing like creme cheese (more like white butter). While some of the flavouring is probably the only mild saving grace here. It's nothing short of a total disappointment. I could have ignored this had I eaten it in a bad airport cafe, but it's inexcusable when you run a dedicated bagel shop in the heart of Bangalore.
Usually I take pictures, but this left me so disappointed that I had to walk across into Lavelle road and grab a beer to get the stale taste out of my mouth in a hurry.
Lastly, to Bagel Bro, you really need to improve your product, hire a good chef maybe, do something. But don't serve up stale food to customers who are willing to pay you a premium. That's the worst recipe for survival.
Great initiative to bring Bagels to B'lore however the quality/process needs to considerably improve.
Those who've never eaten a bagel before might accept these - unfortunately I've had the pleasure of trying some authentic (and the best) bagels in NYC - where the outer layer is almost hard and slightly crisp, and inner part is soft and chewy.
What you get here is just like any other bun - but shaped like a bagel. I feel I wouldn't pay more than 75 bucks for this - 120 is just a bit too high.
Also, why's there no 'everything' bagel?
Do keep trying to make it better - maybe I'll try it again sometime.
