The House of Nosh is a Landmark in the Pune Food Scene. Each level outdoing itself with a different concept. Babylon being the latest entrant. This one is the largest brewery in Maharashtra.Babylon to me is all about Beer and Chakhna… oops sorry… it’s about Craft Beer and Finger Foods (makeovers are in you see).Rewind: all college friends holed up in one of the study rooms, partying in the pretext of studying (party uske ghar mein jahan parents bahaar gaye hon), smuggled bottles of beer n chakhna, loud music, disco lights… the initiation into adulthood was so much fun!!!Present Day: The interiors have a vintage charm to it. This place exudes an aura of warmth and comfort. The zillion bulbs overhead add zing to this place. Imagine you are already high, one look up at the moving bulbs and you are in a trance already. The walls adorned with quirky posters to bring that smile on your face. The amazing rock music right from the 80’s being played taking you back in time with tapping foots and swaying bodies. This is not all; they play bollywood numbers after 10:30 pm to get you all spiked up and on your feet. Bole toh fulto paisa wasool – gud food, gud drinks, amazing music. The best place to rewind with friends n family.Coming to the drinks, oops! sorry beer part – Babylon has started serving 5 beers IPA (Indian Pale Ale), Apple Cider, Oatmeal Stout, Belgian Wit, Hefeweizen. More in the pipeline according to the season and the demand.Oatmeal stout is my favorite here. This dark concoction is a heady mix of coffee and chocolate. Intense, creamy and addictive.The other favorite was the Belgian Wit – Light, fruity and refreshing. With hints of coriander and orange this one was a breeze.The food menu has been designed such that it pairs wonderfully with the beer. You have a lot of finger food and street food with mindboggling twists to enhance your experience. The toughest part was to decide what to eat. The heart wanted to try everything on the menu but the poor stomach was not ready to give company.We started with the Rich, Creamy, Hearty Beer n Bacon Soup. In addition to beer, this had crispy tidbits of bacon and melted cheddar. #PurelyorgasmicThe chutney peanuts masala maarke was the hatke preparation. Roasted Peanuts in green chutney nimbumaarke were #justaddictive.Shoe string onions are another addiction here. These are Size Zero Crispy Onion Rings sprinkled with spices. You won’t stop till it’s over.Banana Leaf Fish are Basa fillets marinated in thai flavors wrapped in a banana leaf and grilled to perfection. This one is #burstingwithflavours.Lokhandwala Frankie reminds you of the yummilicious and masaaledar kolkatta rolls that you get to eat during durga puja. The stuffing here is of the creamy butter chicken. Another #heavenlydelight.Thelawala prawn noodles are the typical street style spicy indo-chinese noodles with loads of veggies which we all just crave to eat. This one you will not want to share with anyone. #purelyaddictiveThe Barbeque pork ribs were just melting in my mouth with the meat just falling off the bones. Each bite was #explosivelyeuphoric.Rum n raisin was already in my mind before I was there. I have memories of this from Nirula’s in Delhi. Well this one outdid that in leaps n bounds. Perfect solution for dry days. This one gives you the slight kick. Don’t believe me just try it out.Chimichanga – Crunchy tortillas in the shape of samosas filled with chocolate n nuts with berry compote and pineapple chilli salsa. The kids in us will love to get our hands n face dirty with this. Just sit back and relish this in all its forms one bite at a time.This place is freakingly mind blowing. Just perfect for Family Gatherings or Office Outings or just Me Time.
