One of the best places in Kaziranga, where traditional Assamese cuisine is available. The Assamese thalis are authentic and beautifully served in our traditional baankahi (the name of the restaurant itself; baankahi means a thali/dish made of brass or bell-metal. These types of utensils are a part of Assamese heritage.) with multiple items served in small bowls of brass/bell-metal, which altogether gives you the taste of a simple and traditional Assamese home. Items you must try here: Assamese thali, Veg Pakoda (just yum!). If you're a non-vegetarian, do try chicken/pork cooked in black sesame (til) or bamboo shoot, duck cooked in gourd, smoked pork, etc. The ambience is good. The interior decor is simple and classy. The eatery is hygienic, well-maintained and kept neat and clean. There is a wide parking space in front of the restaurant, where you can easily park your vehicle. The service is fine. Even on the busiest days, you neither have to wait long for a table or for your order to arrive. A must visit!
