A New Beginning in Gurugram: My Afternoon at AagazOne often hears the lament that Gurugram, for all its corporate sheen and glittering towers, lacks a certain… soul. That it’s a city of transient ambitions, not lasting impressions. And when it comes to dining, while the options are myriad, true standouts, places that linger in the memory long after the last bite, are surprisingly few. So, when I heard whispers of Aagaz, a new multi-cuisine venture by the enterprising Sumit Bhatia, I approached it with a characteristic mix of cynicism and curiosity.Launched just last month, in August 2025, Aagaz has set up shop in the swanky Paras Downtown Center on Golf Course Road. Bhatia, clearly a man of ambition, has crafted a space that boasts an impressive 130 covers – no small feat in a city where spatial generosity often gives way to claustrophobic efficiency. But it’s not just the size that strikes you; it's the declared philosophy: “WHERE EVERY SIP BEGINS A STORY.” Grand pronouncements, certainly, but do they deliver?I decided to investigate one recent afternoon, seeking an escape from the relentless Delhi heat and an answer to that very question. The first pleasant surprise arrived swiftly, and rather refreshingly, in the form of their tap beer, priced at an almost unbelievable ₹99. In an age where even a lukewarm lager can set you back several hundred rupees, this was not just a drink; it was a statement. A promise of accessible indulgence, perhaps, that set a cheerful tone for the hours ahead. The menu, like the city itself, is an eclectic mix. Multi-cuisine can often translate to ‘no cuisine done particularly well,’ a culinary jack-of-all-trades, master of none. Yet, Aagaz manages to defy this stereotype with considerable aplomb. We began with their stone-baked pizza, a classic done right. The crust had that satisfying crisp-chewy texture, and the toppings, a judicious blend, spoke of quality ingredients rather than excessive flourish. Then came the avocado sushi. Now, sushi in Gurugram can be a hit-or-miss affair, often leaning towards the latter. But here, the execution was elegant, the rice perfectly seasoned, and the avocado offering a creamy counterpoint to the delicate textures. It was a dish that demonstrated a surprising finesse, a testament to a kitchen that clearly understands the nuances of diverse cuisines. The pasta that followed was silky and indulgent, rich without being cloying, confirming that their multi-cuisine claim wasn't merely a marketing gimmick. And for those who prefer to graze, the Mezze Platter and Gourmet Veg Snacks Platter offered a delightful array of textures and flavours, perfect for sharing and sparking conversation. But no meal, particularly one aspiring to be a ‘story,’ is complete without its crescendo. And for many, particularly in this part of the world, that crescendo often involves the ubiquitous Butter Chicken. Aagaz’s signature rendition did not disappoint. It was rich, creamy, and deeply flavourful, striking that perfect balance between sweetness and spice that defines a truly great butter chicken. As the afternoon wore on, and the sun began its descent, the promise of the evening's entertainment loomed. From 8 pm daily, a DJ takes over, transforming the sophisticated dining space into what Aagaz bills as “the beginning of unforgettable nights.” It’s a transition from “more than a bar” to “your next chapter,” a deliberate shift in ambiance that promises a luxurious blend of “bold spirits, crafted cocktails and curated ambience.”My afternoon visit didn’t extend to the pulsating rhythms of the DJ, but what I experienced was enough to suggest that Sumit Bhatia might just be onto something. Aagaz is not just another restaurant; it’s an attempt to inject a much-needed dose of character and thoughtful indulgence into Gurugram's dining scene. It’s a place where, yes, every sip does seem to begin a story, and frankly, I’m rather keen to see how the next chapter unfolds.

We organized our daughter's 18th birthday party at Barumbaa. This place absolutely cool, the dj played wonderful music to keep guests entertained. Food is awsome, freshly prepared, served with wonderful smiles by the fully supportive staff. Manager Chanchal and Pawan ensured personal attention to every detail. Best place to organize small get together of around 20-30 people. thank you for everything that made our evening so memorable and wonderful. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner
