A lot of visitors mark that the staff is pleasant at this place. Many reviewers think that the service is cool. But google users haven't given this cafeteria a high rating.
Well, this review is more of a 'take me back to those days' one. The quality of food over the years has been extensively compromised and the prices have stayed somewhat stable. This place could easily accomodate a decent number of people with its benches spread across a large hall which makes finding a seat amidst a busy day more of a gamble as one needs to perfectly time their lunch (before 1 or after 2), dinner (before 6 and after 8) and breakfast( from 6:30 - 7:30 or post 9) in order to avoid long wait times and queue. But what takes all these hurdles to a toss and brings in an unpleasant experience? Undoubtedly, the attitude of the staff on site. Absolutely zero professionalism and rogue attitude is what ruins the entire dining experience. We, Indian folk strongly believe that food is close to God and having to spend our hard earned money to be turned away by the staff is rather shattering and having to fight in the name of food! Makes it a big no no. Instances like asking for a second serving of thoran with your meals, or prolly for some curry for your rice triggers the staff on site who are mostly standing on the sidelines either chitchatting or staring at one's face while having food. Even tiny niggles like paying for a vada but having to pay extra for sambhar only to be told that only idly gets extra sambhar might sound silly to some, but is definitely a one of a kind thing that is exclusive to this eatery. Oh yes, and having to stick to their timings for an omelette (post 6 pm), hefty parcel charges is downright bizarre. On the contrary, there is a newly opened restaurant in the 6th floor of this hospital run by the same management which charges hefty on pockets but showers you with hospitality and mediocre food which clearly is a rub on the common man's face. At times I've always wondered from the attitude of the staff if we are paying money and availing their service ? Or are they paying us to have their food? Or is it because we have no choice in this campus? Going to a hospital itself could bring about a lot of stress on people and the hospital management and wonderful panel of doctors have worked tirelessly to ensure that the experience in hospital is remarkable. But the same doesn't apply here as perhaps there are no plans to change or impress. Going back to 4 years ago during the covid lock down, when the canteen food was tasty with a variety of options and when the staff were friendly. Well, now all that remains is a handful of good dishes and people. Hoping that the team in the back end works on this and brings back that charm that this place had once upon a time cause the present times are just awful.
