Aunty’s Mess – Homely Food Near Chitradurga Fort If you’re looking for authentic home-style food in Chitradurga, Aunty’s Mess run by Jayanti Aunty is a must-try! It’s located near the fort in a 100+ year-old traditional house, adding to the charm of the place. The food is simple, tasty, and feels just like home. Lunch usually includes ragi mudde and rice served with sambar, rasam, curd, and pickle. For dinner, you can enjoy chapati with freshly made curries. Everything is cooked with care and served hot — even kids love it! At just ₹70 per meal, it’s great value for money. The mess has only two tables (7–8 people max), so it may not suit large groups. If you’re more than 3–4 people or visiting at a non-standard time, it’s better to call in advance. Parking can be a bit tricky — best to park near Ucchangi Yellamma Temple and take a short 200m walk. A perfect stop if you’re travelling from/to Bengaluru and via Chitradurga and looking for a wholesome, homely lunch or dinner on the way.
