We had a great experience at Anna's Mess. The food feels truly authentic and the flavors are spot on. Just a heads-up for first-timers: the front door was locked when we arrived, so you may need to walk around the building to find the entrance as the Google Maps pin can be slightly off. We tried the Ghee Karam Masala Dosa, Ghee Podi Uttapam, and the Ghee Podi Masala Dosa. If you aren't familiar with the terminology, "Karam" means spicy in Tamil, and these are definitely the spiciest options on the menu. The dosas were excellent. For drinks, we had the Rose Coconut Milk, Thai Iced Coffee, and Filter Coffee. The coconut milk was a bit more watery than expected, which made the drinks feel quite mild. A special shoutout to Rohit Singh. He noticed we were struggling a bit with the heat of the spicy dosas and kindly brought us a complimentary Ragi Chocolate Brownie. It was a very thoughtful gesture that really made our meal. The Pineapple Halwa and Ragi cake were also delicious. Overall, it is a lovely spot and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for quality South Indian food in Rishikesh.
