Location: 22/1C, Manohar Pukur Road, Desapriya Park, Kolkata. • Cuisine: Kerala / South Indian, including non-veg and veg specialties. • Price: Mid-to-upper mid range. For two people expect approx ₹400-600 in many cases. But certain special items or non-veg combos push it higher. • Ambience: Smaller, cozy, Kerala-flavoured, banana leaf and earthen pots are part of the décor and serving style. What People Like 1. Authenticity of Kerala flavours. Many reviewers praise Ammini for offering authentic Kerala/non-veg South Indian food. Dishes like Mutton Olathede, Kozhi Chicken, Kerala Chicken Curry, Appams, Idiyappam, Malabar Paratha are often highlighted as hits. 2. Good taste and presentation. Food presentation gets positive mention: banana leaf serving, earthen-style bowls or pots, tasty condiments and chutneys. 3. Menu variety (especially non-veg side). Though the menu isn’t huge, it covers both veg and non-veg well, and some weekend specials add more Kerala options (sadya style etc.). 4. Desserts. Items like Uniyappam, Halwa, Payasam are called out as being well done. What People Complain About / Where It Drops 1. Service Issues • Slow service at times; waiting for food can be long. • Staff sometimes criticized for being rude or inattentive. • Order mixups occasionally (e.g. order delivered elsewhere or delayed). 2. Quantity vs Price. Many say the quantity is not always adequate for the price being charged. Some felt the portions were smaller than expected for what they paid. 3. Inconsistency & Availability • Not all items are always available (e.g., filter coffee, some specials). • Occasional dips in food quality (too spicy, or meat having more fat) noted. 4. Space / Ambience Limitations • Restaurant is small; seating can feel cramped when many tables are occupied. • The décor is pleasant, but some feel it could improve / has deteriorated slightly over time. Overall Verdict Ammini is a good place to visit if you are craving Kerala flavour and want something more than just the standard dosa-idly fare. You’ll likely enjoy: • Flavours that are closer to home for people who know Kerala / South Indian cuisine. • Non-vegetarian dishes done with spice and care. • Desserts and traditional accompaniments done well. But you should go in with realistic expectations: • Don’t expect huge portions; you may feel paying more for quality rather than quantity. • Be patient with service during busy hours. • Some menu items might not be available or made to order (so special ones perhaps need pre-ordering or checking). I would not even give any star for services, went to the restaurant during an afternoon for lunch, and the providers there behaved in an awkward fashion. Firstly the served us uncleaned spoons, secondly when we requested them to extend a chair where we could keep our belongings, even when the whole place was empty at that time, they simply points out another place to put the stuffs in cold attitude. I would try to avoid this place.
