Amma Mess is pretty near Madurai Government Museum. Most guests recommend trying perfectly cooked fishballs, omelettes and fried fish. Delicious coffee is served - try and enjoy. Visitors don't like flija at this restaurant.
Amma Mess is well known for its great service and friendly staff, that is always ready to help you. Prices here are reported to be adequate. As a number of reviewers state, the atmosphere is charming. But google users haven't given this place a high rating.

I ordered barotta and mutton sukka. In general it was enjoyable. But I thought the quantity of mutton was less for the price and had more of the oily gravy. As in most places in Tamil Nadu the sukha is not dry as the name indicates. The regular gravy that comes with with barotta was good. I will be back to try the various other interesting items. Good place. Parking might be tricky, but valet parking is mentioned. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Too much of cost don't try briyani in this shop They don't have seprate briyani. They cooked one kuska and just insert the piece that is proper scam. Chicken briyani rate is 275 but they didn't give enough quality and also didn't give egg. Also I ordered vankozhi briyani but they inserted same chicken piece and the rate is 385 it is really not worthy. So if anyone go to this place don't try their briyani because that is not a briyani that is a chilly powder kuska with piece. Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Visited Amma Mess in Madurai with high expectations, but the experience was quite average. The food was okay but nothing stood out in terms of taste or authenticity. Service was decent, and the ambiance was simple and functional. Overall, an average place — not bad, but not something I’d go out of my way for.
