My sister said it is a lovely cake with beautiful decoration. She liked the taste too.
Pros:
1. Easy & Convenient: You can place an order on their website days ahead and even decide the timings. They accept most forms of payment and charge you a fixed price for delivery. The cakes look really good and photograph well.
2. Wide Variety & appealing presentation: They have celebration cakes in different sizes and flavours. They also have loaf cakes for snacking.
3. Sturdy Packaging: Their cake boxes are very strong so the cakes don't get damaged. You can even repurpose them if they are not soiled.
Cons:
1. LACK OF FLAVOUR: This was my main concern. I feel even if a cake looks bad, it should taste good. In Amintiri's case, their cakes look very tempting but hardly have any flavour. I have tasted 4 celebration cakes & 1 loaf cake:
– Red Velvet (average sponge with a fairly decent cream cheese frosting)
– Angel Cake (strange milky taste with an overload of sugar syrup)
– Belgian Dark Chocolate Truffle - Eggless (dry and sandy cake with an unimpressive ganache)
– Tiramisu Cake (Absolutely no flavour of coffee and the mascarpone was old)
– Baileys Irish Cream Loaf Cake (This tasted like Baileys thankfully but it was not a fresh cake)
2. No freshness: From the smell and taste, it's obvious that their cakes were made days ahead. I can understand if a customer orders a cake last minute and they don't have the time to make a fresh one. I placed my orders 2-3 days ahead but they were not baked to order.
3. Not Worth the Price: Considering the packaging and on time delivery, I would say their pricing is understandable. If the taste matched the looks of the cake, then this would have been a good deal. Sadly, because of the lacklustre taste, their cakes are not worth the money you pay.
3. Payment Gateway Issues: Once, when I placed an order, the payment went through but the website stopped working. I contacted their customer support who asked me to send an email with the details. Next day, I did not receive a regular confirmation email so I had to reach out to them again to ensure that they have received my payment. This is could be a one-off incident.
As a baker and a customer, I'm ready to give them the benefit of doubt the first time. After trying their products 4 times, I can say with absolute confidence that their cakes are just not upto the mark. They need to work on their flavours and ensure freshness of the cakes.
I will not buy anything from them in the future but I admire their consistent presentation and practical packaging.
