Aminia near New Market is practically a landmark in Kolkata. It’s got that serious legacy vibe, and you can feel the history when you walk in. For years, this place has been the go-to for authentic Mughlai, and honestly, the setup still holds up. The restaurant is massive and really spacious, which is a huge plus in a crowded area like New Market. It’s also super clean and hygienic. The staff are professional and quick—service is definitely one of their strong suits right now. It is a very comfortable place to bring the family for a meal. But here’s the sad part: the food just isn't hitting the mark like it used to. Recently, I’ve felt the quality and quantity are sliding. The biggest letdown is the Biryani. For the price they’re charging, the amount of rice you get is surprisingly less compared to other famous spots in the city. It feels like they’re skimming on the very thing that made them famous. It’s still a good spot if you prioritize a clean, comfortable environment over massive portions. But if you’re looking for that old-school, generous Kolkata Biryani feast, you might leave feeling a bit shortchanged. Worth a visit for the comfort, but I hope they fix the portion sizes soon. Aminia Restaurant. Located at S N Banerjee Road, just opposite to New Market and Kolkata Municipal Corporation building. Very convenient to reach this place. An iconic restaurant for Mughlai foods in Kolkata indeed! They are operating in the same old building but maintained properly. Food items are not cheap but as per their brand value. One thing you to note that, they accept cash and cards, not UPI payment. One more thing for your knowledge, the waiter may ask for tips. Don't be surprised! You may try this eatery when visiting Esplanade/New Market area in Kolkata. **.
