Alfa Sweets has long been my preferred destination for bakery and sweet products, not only because of their in-house production facility that ensures fresh, high-quality items but also due to the convenience of the car park right next to the shop. However, my recent experience at their Venniyur location has left me disappointed for the first time. It seems there has been a change in staff, and unfortunately, the level of service has declined. The staff appeared more focused on their own tasks than on assisting customers. One staff member who helped me was noticeably uninformed and lacked professionalism. To make matters worse, I noticed they were handling the bakery items without gloves, using their bare hands, which was both unhygienic and irritating. I tried to overlook their behavior until I observed leftover crumbs on the weighing scale, which could cause inaccuracies in the measurements. After selecting four different bakery items, the staff told me the total was ₹235. I offered ₹230, thinking it was fair, but they insisted on the full amount. I then asked them to weigh each item separately, and to my surprise, the weight difference was more than ₹5. In total, there was a discrepancy of over ₹15. Instead of apologizing, they simply opened one of the packages and added more items to make up for the price difference – a rather petty response. If anyone from Alfa Sweets’ management is reading this, I owe an apology for the terrible experience and I must emphasize that such practices are unsustainable in the long run.
