We had booked a table through Zomato, which offered 50% off on food. On arrival, we were given a manual food menu, while the drinks menu was separate and very confusing. The drinks menu mentioned Buy One Get One (BOGO) offers, but whenever we tried to order items under this offer, we were told they were not available. When we ordered regular drinks instead, we were told the discount would be applicable. However, when the bill was presented, we noticed several irregularities: • The staff insisted that instead of paying via Zomato, we should pay them directly, claiming it would be “better for the bill,” which raised suspicion. • A 10% charge was added under the name “Staff Contribution”, which was not clearly disclosed earlier and was essentially a service charge. • As per government guidelines, service charge is optional and completely at the customer’s discretion, but this was added without consent and under a misleading name. When we pointed this out after noticing the issue, the staff refused to remove it and said, “Next time you can ask to remove it while paying the bill.” They also tried to divert and manipulate the conversation instead of resolving the issue. This experience felt misleading, confusing, and unfair. Transparency in pricing and respect for customers are essential, and unfortunately, this was missing.
