Their plates are filled with large pancake like bread called ‘Injera’ which is actually a staple bread. The other info I got from them is mostly Ethiopians are orthodox Christians, since they don’t feed on meet or any meet byproduct’s until Easter.
And ‘Wot’ which is a stew like dish made from tenderloin, lamb, chicken, lentils or vegetables. Their signature dishes are made with variety of spices..yeah their spices were just awesome for your taste buds. And let me go through what I tasted. They gave us a starter Mandasi : it is a fried bread made with coconut which we usually call it as bonda. and I loved the dip which was made with mint, green chilly and ajwine (Oomam) Since I wanted to try out almost all the dishes we took the Abyssinian tasting menu non-vegetarian one.
For soup they have us doro shorba: soup of chicken and butter beans flavoured with onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, rosemary and Ethiopian spiced butter.
Doro wot: It is the national food of Ethiopia made during their festivals which is usually made with chicken leg and egg simmered with onion, tomato and red chilly. Doro Tibs: diced chicken cubes tossed with olive oil, onion, pepper, chillies Nd rosemary. This was the best of all. And if u are prone to mild spiced one better choose this.
Yebeg alicha: lamb marinated turmeric made with buttery black cardamom and cumin based onion stew. It was really a different spiced one.
Misir beray wot: Minced beef cooked along with red lentils in a thick gravy along with onion. My fav of all, beef was well cooked with spices and soo yum it was. Yebeg bozna Shiro: actually it is lamb cooked with chickpeas stew onions.
Bill came to 900 inclusive of taxes. Which is worth it.
