Too be honest, the best experience I’ve had at a restaurant was dessert. It was a very long day and I decided to eat my late dinner at Mel’s. 12:30am, I got my a large plate of a meal called a “hangover” and then proceeded to dessert. I asked her for a banana split and my waitress response was, “oh I love making those one will come right up (insert a smiley face)”. Needless to say that was the best dessert I’ve ever had at a local Mel’s. I’ve gone to a lot of nice restaurants and have eaten some heavily priced food but nothing matched this dessert. Mainly because she took her own time and work to craft this banana split to such perfection. She was also not a waitress by career and this is a local Mel’s (Similar to a Denny’s). My meal costed about $19 but I tipped her a $20 for going above her guidlines and she started to tear up. Her care is what made that restaurant experience much better. She treated me as a human being rather than someone she’s trying to suck the gratuity out of. That is something that is hard to come by these days where everyone is so tip hungry. They force their “favorite meals” on you for that $200 meal. To obtain a $30 tip. I haven’t been back to that Mel’s during that timeframe of 12:30am in a while but if that waitress is out there reading this thank you for making such an amazing dessert that was nothing near the usual.
