We had booked a lunch slot at 12:00 PM, but service only started at 12:30 PM. Even after being seated, the meals were served more than 20 minutes later, making the total waiting time nearly an hour while actual eating time was just 30 minutes.Service was very poor — we had to ask for everything twice, including repeating the same order, and the waiter never once checked if we needed anything. Every small request required calling him over.Overall, the delays and lack of attentive service made the experience very disappointing for a hotel of this standard.

The multi cuisine restaurant, Virunthu, is on the first floor in JP Hotel.  This is the restaurant that serves the complimentary breakfast for the guests staying at the hotel. The furniture is very appealing, ambiance is soothing and the service is excellent.  As soon as you open the door, your eyes will fall on the cute cart that is kept with the copper tumblers and flasks of tea and coffee. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and always ready to assist us while ordering and come frequently to the table to ask if everything is okay. The first meal we ate at Virunthu was dinner on Friday night.  Since it was pretty late, there were just a few guests in the restaurant.  There was an option to order al la carte or have the buffet.  We opted for option number 1. The order consisted of Cream of Mushroom Soup, Paneer Pakoda and Chili Garlic Noodles.  I have not seen big portions like this before! It was actually sufficient for 3 to 4 people.  The food was served very hot, it tasted excellent and even the cutlery was very appealing to the eyes.  The texture of the soap was just right and you did not need to add extra salt or pepper to it for the taste.  The pakoda was full of spices which made you feel like popping one after the other in your other.  My, what can I say about the Noodles! It was one of the best noodles I have ever eaten.  The proportion of the red chilli flakes and garlic was balanced well for your taste pallette. The next morning we had an early breakfast because we had to be in the wedding hall by 9 a.m.  We were the first guests in the restaurant that day.  The buffet spread is located at the far end of the hotel from one corner to the other.  South Indian, North Indian, Chinese and even made to order Dosas and Egg were an option for the guest.  Items such as fresh fruits, muffins and pastries were located at the far end of the spread.  The food was good, but my favorite would definitely have to be the hot, piping and frothy filter coffee! We happened to drop in on Saturday afternoon after the function just to recharge ourselves with the authentic filter coffee which was served with a plate of cookies. The day I was checking out, I had a light breakfast, but enjoyed not one but two glasses of the rich, filter coffee!  Really going to miss it. On Monday around 1 p.m., I went to the restaurant to grab a quick bite to eat before heading for the station.  Ordered a Grilled Vegetable and Cheese Sandwich served with a piece of lettuce and French fries on the side.  Tasted yummy, but could eat only half, so packed the leftovers and devoured it while traveling. The menu at this place is so huge.  You could stay here for days and still not finish eating half of the items! As the restaurant is spacious, you can choose to sit in the center area or to the side near the window.  There is also an LED TV located on the wall in case you want to watch the match. The light music playing in the restaurant is soothing to the ears. This restaurant is perfect for couples, families and groups.  I would recommend Virunthu Restaurant for your next meal when you dine out.
