Absolutely recommended. ( Must visit at least once if you love continental/western cuisine). Atmosphere : They have really done this place up very well, I don't know what is the best part, the garden in the middle, or the French housing style of pondi or the restaurant cat . Apart from the mosquito problem outdoors ( which really is a shame) , this place is gorgeous. Food: I ordered stake and a barbeque pizza and banana crepe with two drinks , it was very very good , I have had better but this comes close. Service : Its professional ( although I would prefer if they ask what type of cooking the steak needs to be in from the customer). Cost : Its slightly on the higher side but its worth it , absolutely must visit place. Bonus : There is a bakery attached which has high quality and tasty food and lot of imported packaged foods, like a mini Amma Nana store. I had a very nice time at Tryst Café with a friend of mine - until a staff member rudely interrupted my lunch and asked me and my friend to exit the premises. I usually don't like to talk about negative experiences at places cause in most cases it comes down to a case of the staff having a bad day, rather than it being an indicator of the actual hospitality / quality of the services / food provided. But this particular man - whom I'd only interacted once earlier at reception when entering the cafe - made it a point to be downright aggressive to me and my friend, without even giving us the grace of explaining what the problem is or giving us a chance to respond / accomodate their requests. to provide context on what happened from my side - my friend and I were having a regular lunch filled with smiles and casual conversation - and the particular spot we were seated at was under the direct outlet of a AC wind outlet - so we got cold pretty quickly. we'd asked the staff to turn down the cold once already and a member of staff immediately accommodated us and turned off the AC - which we appreciated. it was turned on again (presumably on some other customers request), which we didn't mind at all. But after a while it got very cold for us again, so my friend - who is smaller than me - took the back support pillow they had provided on their seat and put it on top of him to protect him from the cold. and he also ended up scooting towards me to protect him further from the cold. we weren't disturbing anyone else, we were just smiling and laughing and having our own private conversation, until this one particular member of staff came and pulled the pillow from my friend and kept saying "what do you think you're doing, this is a public space" or something along those lines and asked us to immediately get out - at which point I just asked for the bill, paid, and left cause I did not feel safe or comfortable with the withheld aggressive tone and attitude of his comments. I'm not sure if this is a purely homophobic act or if it's just a moral panic act - but eitherways, I feel like this could've been handled better and any problem they had with us be expressed in a better / more polite way so we can communicate and iron out any knots the management had with us. this was an incredibly disappointing experience and mildly threatening and I'm sad that this has colored my otherwise fun lunch at Tryst Café. My appreciation for all the other members of staff for the excellent service and the chefs for the excellent meal. Management, I hope you have a talk with the specific person I had this experience with cause I don't think he should come out of today's experience thinking this is an acceptable way to treat the cafés' patrons.
