I recently had the pleasure of eating at the Tinge - Coastal Cuisines. This was during a very short visit to Goa from Mumbai and we were recommended this place by a local when I was looking for something to chow down during lunch time. I ordered the 'fish thaali' for lunch. We were a group of 3 friends and one of them was a vegetarian (poor dude didnt realize what he was missing ). The thaali had a great assortment of items that captured the traditional Malvani / Goan flavor through a variety of seafood dishes. The dish included a huge 'Surmai' fish fry steak - a huge hit! There were other dishes like prawns, 'tisrya' (clams) curry and a dry fish chutney (I forget the name). Yummy! There were other items like chapati, bhindi ki sabzi (ladyfingers), papad etc.I could barely finish everything, was too full at the end. Another thing I enjoyed was a drink of soda with fresh squeezed lemon (good sugar free / natural alternative to canned sodas, made to order). This seems to be a Goan speciality since I saw it being sold outside some temples. The service was very prompt when we ordered some extras like papads and pakodas for the table, which was great because I had a flight to catch shortly thereafter. All in all I really enjoyed this Goan experience. I rarely write reviews but had to for this one, since it was quite a memorable experience!
