Uncomfortable Experience with Staff Named Asif: I visited Hippie Cafe on Oct 22 upon the recommendation of a friend who was staying at the same hotel, which is located near the restaurant (Joey Hostel). We were considering staying at Joey Hostel for our next visit; however, after this experience, we are no longer sure about that decision. During my visit, a hotel staff member named Asif approached our table. He claimed to be part of the hotel staff, though I’m not sure which department he worked in. He joined our table and interrupted our conversation, though that in itself is not my main concern. What I feel is important to share is that I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community. While I don’t openly express it, people sometimes notice. During our interaction, after I introduced myself, Asif made an inappropriate comment about my name, saying that it meant “gay” in Hindi. He then mockingly asked me to repeat, “Hello, my name is gaygay.” I refused that and tried to continue my conversation with my friends, but he persisted in making similar remarks and interrupting us. I understand that people come from different backgrounds and may have varying perspectives, but as a guest, I believe I should be treated with respect. This experience made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, and I hope the management can address this matter appropriately. P.S. Please note that the Taj Mahal is not open for night viewing except on the night of the full moon and two days (Not sure) before and after it.
